The training
programme(Workshop) for the Master Trainers of Pune, Bhopal and Hyderabad
regions was organised by Oracle Academy in association with NVS, Head Qtrs on “
Getting Started with Alice” from September 11, 2012 to September 13, 2012 at
JNV East Godavari. The location chosen for the workshop was very good. I felt
that I was dwelling in the lap of nature. The buildings of the JNV East
Godavari are surrounded by tall trees of various kinds. The campus of the JNV
looks like a master piece of an artist. The coputer lab of the JNV, where we
were being trained, is very good. All the systems are connected with high speed
broadband connectivity.
I reached JNV
East Godavari, which located in Peddapuram(AP), on September 10, 2012. We were accommodated
in a hotel in Peddapuram since Regional meet of Badminton was going on. The
workshop started from the morning of 11th September.
Our trainers
were Ms.Kamal Peter and Ms.Madhurya from Oracle Academy. They had explicitly
explained how the software “Alice” is useful to create animations as per the
need of the students and the teacher. They had also demonstrated how the
software works and we were also informed about the functions the software is
having.
On the first
day, the software “Alice” was introduced to the trainees by Ms.Kamal Peter. M’m
explained that the software is having four main handles to operate an image in
a scene. The main handles of the software are: default, rotation, translation
and resize. Each of the tools mentioned here do have their various functions to
edit a picture in a scene. We were also told that the “Alice” is having a
methods panel which includes procedures, functions and properties through which
we can assign functions and procedures to an object in a scene.
On second day,
we were taught how to give motion(movement) to an object and how to spin an
object in a scene. Thereafter, the participants were informed as to how the
camera markers are used to change scenes in a single panel. We were taught as
to how we can change colour of the scene and how we can add opacity to an
object and to the entire scene. After all the information was given, the
participants were divided into nine groups and were assigned to work on a
project of their choice. All the participants worked very hard and learnt so
many things about the software by trial and error method.
On third day,
participants were informed about as to how use key board controls. Thereafter
presentation of the participants of their prepared project was started. After
the presentation was over, valedictory function was organised and the workshop
concluded on a good note.
In a nutshell,
I must say that the workshop was very useful for all of us, and if it is used
by all the teachers effectively, they can create wonders and teaching learning process will definitely be
effective.
